No one wants to admit that they have spoiled children, though there are some parents that do not really care if they do or not. Some believe that they should do anything that they can for their children and there is no harm in giving them everything they want as long as they can afford to do so. Though that might make the children happier in the moment, it is really going to hurt them in the long run. A child that does not have to wait for anything, or earn anything for that matter, is going to be lost in the adult world.
Spoiled children do not just come from homes that give children everything that they want in a material sense. They also grow from homes when parents allow them to do whatever they want whenever they want. They are never punished and they feel that everything is okay. It is not really their fault that they are spoiled children, as they do not know any better or any different. This can lead to a lot of problems for a child that goes to school in kindergarten and suddenly has restrictions. These are generally the children that have the most problems adjusting to school.
When you go to the store, and you kids have a fit when you don?t allow them to put whatever they want in the cart, you may have spoiled children. If your kids run around the house destroying things and mouth back with no consequences, you have spoiled children. You have to understand that your kids are not bad kids. This is all that they know. The good news is that this is not all that they have to know if you decide that you must turn things around. Know that you can.
Are you not sure you want to change? Think about what happens when spoiled children grow up. They want what they want when they want it, but they do not want to work for it. That might mean your child is living with you until they are thirty years old. They may have very bad personal relationships because they expect everyone to do what they want them to do without question. Many spoiled children have a hard time making and keeping friends. That is not what you want for your children. You want them to go out and make their mark on their world.
If you have spoiled children, and you want to turn things around, you have made a good choice for your kids. It can be easy to spoil them because it makes us, as parents, feel good to see them feel so happy all of the time. Your children are your life, and it only makes sense that you want the very best for them. When you want to start turning things around, expect things to get worse before they get better. Start slow when you start adding limitations that they need, and expect some tantrums. It is going to be very hard on you, but you must stand firm and see it through. You will be glad that you did.
