I just moved from a one-bedroom apartment to a three-bedroom house — the first one I’ve ever owned. Years of apartment living forced me to make do with as little furniture as possible, but now that I have all this extra space, I’m planning a massive shopping spree in order to fill it up! My first order of business is to take care of the master bedroom. It’s so spacious that I’ll finally be able to get the huge bed I’ve always dreamed of having, so I’m currently looking around for good deals on king sized mattresses.
Prior to moving into my house, the only time I ever got to luxuriate in the roominess of a king sized mattress was when I stayed at hotels. I loved being able to stretch out fully without knocking into my partner or rolling off the edge of the bed. It seems like I always get a good night’s sleep on king sized mattresses, so it’s natural that I now want one for my own home.
I was a bit worried that a king sized mattress would be completely out of my price range, but after doing some research, I’m convinced that I can afford one. In fact, many of the deals that I saw while shopping online were absolutely incredible — even for name-brand products from top manufacturers like Stearns & Foster, Comfortaire, Sealy Posturepedic, Kingsdown, and more. I’ve seen these brands at local furniture stores before, but have always walked away empty-handed because of the prices. But after shopping for king sized mattresses online, I now know that I can get the exact same products for hundreds less. Oh, yeah — retail markups are alive and well in the bedding industry!
Buying a king sized mattress online sounded strange to me at first. I mean, I could only imagine how much shipping charges would be for a product that size, and I would almost certainly want to test how my new bedding feels before actually making a purchase. These are definitely legitimate concerns, but again my mind was put at ease as soon as I did some more digging. For one thing, most online retailers offer free shipping on king sized mattresses, so that immediately became a non-issue. And for another, I figured out that I should visit a couple of furniture stores to test out the products in person, find one that felt comfortable, and then go ahead and make the purchase online. Simple!
Anyway, I’ve already earmarked some time next weekend to go shopping, so hopefully I’ll have my brand-new king sized mattress here within a couple of weeks. I can’t wait to sprawl out on my new, roomy bed and sleep comfortably and soundly for years to come!
